Totem is a tile-based resource management game where you play as a god leading your followers. You must gather enough resources for your followers to survive, defend against invaders, and make the occasional sacrifice when you see fit.

Totem was not a technically challenging game to develop from an engineering point of view. However, it does have a rather in-depth UI system, and required some tooling to allow for ease of balancing. Totem was built for the Score Space Game Jam over 3 days and won 1st place against over 70 entries. Our goal was to build something entirely different from WLGYL and The Ambassador: Fractured Timelines, which was nearing then end of its development.

  • Wrote a JSON based system to manage content and balance.

  • Built stats based resource management systems and associated GUIs.
